Zimbabwean man who won Mr. Urgly for the fifth time wins $500 and a cow.

A 48-year-old Zimbabwean man has won the Mr. Urgly title for the fifth time, expressing delight in his unique accomplishment. William Masvinu, the winner of the annual Mr. Urgly competition, stated that the event aims to showcase beauty in unorthodox forms. Organizers characterize the tournament as a forum for giving “ugly” people the same possibilities as their “more traditionally attractive” peers.

Masvinu, a well-known character in his town, says he intends to take his achievements to the international scene. He also claimed that he had already gained popularity and obtained a few minor marketing contracts. Masvinu was awarded $500 in cash and a cow for his most recent win.

When Masvinu won the same competition in 2023, he stated, “No one can dispute that I am the ugliest person in Zimbabwe. I now want to take my ugliness outside the country. If there is a Mr. Ugly World, I am confident I will bring the crown to Zimbabwe.”

Masvinu previously lost the crown to Sere in 2015, with critics claiming that Sere’s appearance was mostly due to missing teeth. Masvinu recovered his title the next year.

Despite his atypical fame, Masvinu has always regarded his appearance as a divine blessing. His wife, supposedly, takes comfort in the notion that her husband’s distinctive appearance reduces the likelihood of other ladies fighting for him.
