At 30, Emmanuel Eseme has established himself as a promising African sprinter for the Paris 2024 Olympics. His personal mark of 9.96 seconds in the 100 meters, set in 2023, places him among the world’s sprinting elite.
With a recent track record that includes a gold medal in the 100m at the African Games in Accra in 2024 (10.14 seconds), a victory at the Francophonie Games in Kinshasa in 2023 (10.04 seconds), and a silver medal at the 2024 African Championships in Douala (10.15 seconds), he is well-positioned to aim for a podium finish in Paris, where he fell short three years ago in Tokyo (eliminated in the semi-finals)

Cameroon, which originally entered six competitors, now depends on only three of them to earn a medal: swimmer Grâce Manuella Ngueloo, and athletes Emmanuel Eseme and Linda Amougou. Emmanuel Eseme will compete in the 100m heats on Saturday, August 3, followed by Linga Angounou in the 400m hurdles on Sunday.
