Olympic boxer Imane Khelif receives significant honor from Algerian president despite controversy over gender eligibility

Olympic gold medallist Imane Khelif, who won gold in Paris despite controversy surrounding her gender eligibility, received a significant honor from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Khelif won the gold medal in the boxing tournament for women weighing 66 kilograms.

She beat her Italian opponent in just 46 seconds, and when she came out on top, she was barraged with inquiries about her gender.

The 25-year-old has listed JK Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, and Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, among other celebrities, as suitors against Khelif.

Former US President Donald Trump also referred to the fighter as a’man’, and Khelif admitted to being ‘affected’ by the ‘noise’.

Khelif and another fighter Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan were disqualified from the 2023 World Championship by the IBA for allegedly failing a gender eligibility test.

Khelif flaunted her stunning feminine makeover while receiving a significant accolade from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has bestowed an important distinction on the Olympic champion boxer. Kaylia Nemour and Djamel Sedjati, fellow Algerian Olympic champions, accompanied her to the leader’s palatial residence in Algiers.
