“It will end in dialogue,” Ukraine’s Zelenskiy concedes as he prepares to propose a plan to Biden, Trump, and Harris on how to stop the war with Russia.

“It will end in dialogue,” Ukraine’s Zelenskiy concedes as he prepares to propose a plan to Biden, Trump, and Harris on how to stop the war with Russia.

Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Ukraine’s leader, stated on Tuesday, August 27, that the war with Russia will finally end in discussion, and that he planned to introduce his two potential successors, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

The Ukrainian leader, speaking at a news conference, stated that Kyiv’s three-week foray into Russia’s Kursk area was part of that plan, but it also included additional economic and diplomatic measures.

“It will conclude with dialogue. The primary goal of this plan is to force Russia to cease the war. And I very much hope that it will be fair to Ukraine,” he told reporters in Kyiv of the war that began with Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.

Zelenskiy stated that he planned to visit the United States in September to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and that he was prepared to meet Biden.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on August 19 that talks on a peace plan were out of the question following Ukraine’s large cross-border invasion into Russia’s Kursk region on August 6.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was in Kyiv last week, spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday and expressed his support for an early and peaceful conclusion to the Ukraine conflict.

Zelenskiy has been adamant that Russia wants to prescribe terms to Ukraine in any settlement of the war, which Kyiv regards as unacceptable.

Putin has stated that any agreement must begin with Ukraine accepting “realities on the ground,” which would leave Russia in control of four Ukrainian areas, including Crimea.

As of now, Ukraine claims possession of more than 1,200 square kilometers (463 square miles) of Russia’s Kursk area, giving it considerable negotiating leverage.

“There can be no compromises with Putin, and dialogue today is in principle empty and meaningless because he does not want to end the war diplomatically,” Zelenskiy stated at the news conference.

He claimed that the push into the Kursk region had lowered the number of governments across the globe calling on Ukraine to make concessions to Russia in order to stop the war and cede large portions of its land.

On the battlefield, Zelenskiy denounced Putin, claiming that the Russian dictator prioritized capturing Ukrainian territory over defending Russia’s own territory.

He pointed to the Kursk region, where Ukraine claims to have captured 100 towns, while Russian forces continue to advance in eastern Donetsk.

Zelensky also stated that Kyiv had carried out its first test of a domestically made ballistic missile.
