Actress Stephanie Tum left the crowd gasping and asking for more at the movie premiere of ‘When the Levees Broke’

When the Levees Broke, a film directed by Musing Derick and starring Stephanie Tum as the primary character, has gained critical acclaim from international audiences, winning more than 20 significant prizes. This film puts light on the ubiquitous problem of corruption and calls for its complete eradication in Cameroon and throughout Africa.

The film premiered on August 3, 2024, at Canal Olympia in Bessengue Douala, Cameroon. The premiere of this film presented viewers with a long-awaited opportunity to see the critically praised one-character film that has been generating a lot of hype. The event began at 5 p.m. with a stunning Red Carpet reception, followed by an on-time start to the 1-hour and 30-minute movie at 9:30 p.m.

The film follows Barrister Fidel, played by Stephanie Tum, as she navigates a tricky professional scenario that eventually leads to her daughter’s abduction. She must make a difficult decision: priorities her family’s well-being or follow her moral instincts. For 90 minutes, Barrister Fidel, who is deeply committed to her fellow citizens and her country, diligently deploys persuasive arguments and strategies to hold corrupt persons accountable for their crimes, averting additional harm to the nation and continent. Despite countless obstacles, she must continue to move forward. Stephanie Tum’s captivating performance had the audience completely entranced, leaving them eagerly wanting for more. The portrayal was executed flawlessly, and every detail of the event, from the Red Carpet to the grand unveiling, was expertly orchestrated.

The grand premiere drew a large number of Cameroonian actors and actresses, as well as a few Nigerians. The film received tremendous applause from the public, and everything about its production went smoothly.
