Bed designed to protect you during an earthquake has people terrified
A lot of People have been frightened after seeing a video of a bed supposed to protect people during earthquakes.
There are numerous methods that can be implemented to reduce the risk of an earthquake. Buildings, for example, can be designed to be as stable as possible.
You might also seek refuge under a desk or table to decrease the risk of debris striking you.
Of all, there is only so much you can do in the face of an earthquake, and if the earthquake is severe enough, all bets are off.
However, one guy appears to have devised a, shall we say, ‘unique’ method of attempting to safeguard people in the event that their home is hit by one.
If the reactions of everyone who heard a clip of it are any indication, the’solution’ actually causes more problems than it solves.
So, what exactly is this strange earthquake-resistant safety technology?
I give you the anti-earthquake bed.
It appears to be a normal bed, but in the event of seismic activity, the bed opens up and rapidly drags its occupant into a protected enclosure.
Seeing it in action, the bed grabs hapless victims, whether they are awake or asleep.
Once inside, the person is safe from falling debris and can be more quickly found by rescuers.
It also includes enough water and oxygen to keep you alive, hopefully long enough to be discovered.
There is even a television screen inside to keep you engaged.
At least, that’s how it’s meant to function in theory; in practice, many individuals saw it as their own personal automatic coffin rather than a lifesaving device.
People resorted to the social media network Reddit to express their opinions on the scary creation.
One person asked, “How are you going to get out when you’re buried under tons and tons of rubble? “This is simply a fancy coffin.”
A second person added: “Exactly where I want to be in an earthquake, stuck in a metal box under tons of debris.”
Another individual took it upon themselves to remark what many of you have undoubtedly been thinking, writing: “I can picture some poor couple going at it a bit too aggressively and the bed suddenly eats them.”
It’s hardly ideal, especially because your water and air supplies will only last half as long.
